We are going to remind ourselves to start nurturing our child’s safety from this moment onwards. First, ask yourself if you have a first aid kit at home or in school. If you have, when is the last time you opened it? If you don’t, when are you going to get one? First aid kit is the first step to nurture our child’s safety at home or school!

First aid kit is a collection of tools and materials use for giving emergency aids, such as accidents and injuries. Accident may happen anytime especially with young children. We do not wish any accident or injuries happen to anyone we love, but we must always be ready if there’s one. We need to prepare ourselves for the unexpected. Imagine our child accidentally cut himself on his finger and starts bleeding, but you can’t find the antiseptic cream or plaster around the house because you can’t remember where you put them! Does this sound familiar?

Therefore, it is important to have all the basic first aid items in a clean and waterproof container. Keep the first aid kit in a dry and visible place. Inform all family members including your maid about the exact location of the first aid kit in the house. It’s advisable to keep one in your car too!

If you do have a first aid kit, but you have not touched it for a long time, it’s time to take it out and examine the contents. Replace those items that have expired. Replenish items that are not in the kit. If you do not have one, go to the nearest pharmacy to get one or purchase online! Here are some basic items that must have in a first aid kit:

  1. Disposable latex gloves - to protect the first aider from diseases that may transmit by touching bodily fluids such as blood or urine.
  2. Individually wrapped plasters in various sizes and types such as fabric plasters, waterproof plastics.
