Art and craft are one of the usual tools that we can use to nurture our child’s creativity. Few days ago, we have prepared three boxes of recycle materials such as tissue boxes, egg cartons, empty toilet rolls, used color papers, glass papers, empty mineral bottles, plastic lids and boxes. We also prepared some glues, color pencils, crayons and masking tapes on the table. The children are free to choose any materials they want to make any design that they have in their mind. You will be amazed with their creation resulted from their imagination and creativity :

This was a building made by a 5 years old girl. She told me that the top level is the swimming pool, while the bottom level is the library. She made it in just short period of time with very few simple recycle materials.
The above design is created by a 5 years old boy. In the beginning he just made the left hand side which representing a man in a costume. He drew a face on the toilet roll with color pencil. However, it was covered by the paper hats he made on top of the toilet roll. He spent a long time making this design. He was very concentrated in his work. He would look around the environment to find suitable materials for his design. Later, he approached me with the tissue box. He asked me to help him cut a hole for him on one side of the box. He even showed me the size of hole that he wanted by making a circle on it with his finger. After I helped him cutting a hole on the box, he left and went back to his seat. Five minutes later he showed me his mater piece. He inserted a mineral bottle into the hole and then sticked the tissue box to his initial creation. He was very proud of his creation and told me that he wanted to show it to his mummy.
This is designed by a 4 years old little girl. She wrapped some pink crepe paper around a mineral bottle. Then she put a toilet roll on top of the mineral water. She colored the toilet roll using crayon and color pencils. Later she started decorated the design by sticking some colorful beads around it. She was sitting at a corner making her creation quietly and with full concentration. I looked at her creation and It looks like a pretty girl dancing in a beautiful dress! What do you think?
This is created by a 3 years old girl. She pasted some yellow glass papers on a toilet roll. She then inserted a large piece of red glass paper on top of the toilet roll. She then put a paper flower on top of the red glass paper as decoration. Finally she put the decorated toilet roll on a curved Styrofoam. She was so excited with her creation and requested me to take a picture of it. When asked her what is her creation. She told me that it’s a candle! Do you agree?
Throughout this activity, the children are able to create some designs with the given materials on their own creativity. They are confident and independent. I will only assist them when they asked for it. We need to appreciate their creativity. Do not hesitate to praise and give words of encouragement for their creativity!
